Carnegie Harriers has three separate Grand Prix – Summer, Hill Running and Winter. The fixtures on these lists are decided by the committee at appropriate points in the year, with the aim of constructing a list of races which will encourage members to develop their abilities. Races are chosen to give a variety of locations, both local and further afield, a variety of distances and types of terrain, and, in the case of Hill Running and Winter, to incorporate district and national championship events. After a number of years, we have reduced the number of races on the lists to encourage more members to take part. Results for Grand Prix races are automatically recorded in the Grand Prix Results Table which enables members to keep track of their standing. The Grand Prix rules can be here.
In addition, club member Phil Smithard devised the All Rounders Competition, to encourage members to take part in all three disciplines, running two races in each category. Full rules can be read by selecting All Rounders Competition.
It is entirely up to individuals whether they wish to take part in competitive races, as we value equally those who join the club and attend training for personal fitness and social reasons.
