RACE DATE
For 2023 we will, again, be holding two races of approximately 15k (9 miles) and 5k (3.1 miles) respectively. The races are scheduled to take place on Sunday 12th February 2023 with the 15k starting at 11:00 am and the 5k starting at 11:05 am. Both will be run under UK Athletics Rules and Licences from Scottish Athletics.
THE COURSES
Both races start and finish in the grounds of the Scottish Police College at Tulliallan, Kincardine but the majority of both routes is within Devilla Forest itself.
Full details of each route can be found on the website. The routes are suitable for ordinary trainers or trail shoes, but not spikes but runners should be aware that underfoot conditions can vary considerably.
The courses will be marshalled and well-marked at all junctions. The safety of all is paramount and runners must follow the instructions of the marshals at all times.
Devilla Forest is a working forest and, as such, any work taking place may affect parts of the race routes. In the event that beforehand, or even on race day itself, we need to amend either or both routes, for example if adversely affected by weather or underfoot conditions, any changes will be notified to entrants as soon as known. Please check our website (www.carnegie-harriers.co.uk) for the latest information.
Dogs are not permitted in either race.
ENTRIES
The races are pre-entry only through EntryCentral. There are no entries on the day. The entry fees are £15.00 (£17.00 for non-SA members) for the 15k and £10.00 (£12.00 for non-SA members) for the 5k. Runners must be at least 17 years old to enter the 15k race and at least 13 years old to enter the 5k race.
You can find details of our race privacy notice and race terms and conditions and further information on the events on our website (https://www.carnegie-harriers.co.uk/events-calendar/).
On receiving an email to confirm their entry to the race, runners should check that their entry details are correct, and advise the Race Director if any details need to be amended. No changes can be made after 5th February 2023.
There are no refunds of entry fees and the transfer or swapping of numbers is not permitted. However, if the races do not go ahead as planned, and we are unable to reschedule them, entry fees will be refunded, less the EntryCentral admin fee. In the unfortunate event that a runner needs to withdraw from the race, they should advise the Race Director as soon as possible.
RACE LIMITS
There are race limits of 350 runners for the 15k and 100 runners for the 5k. Entries will close once the race limits are reached.
REGISTRATION
Runners must collect their race numbers, which include a timing chip, from 9.00 am on the day from the Registration Area located in the Assembly Hall within the Scottish Police College
PARKING
Ample car parking is available within the grounds of the Scottish Police College. Anyone attending the race (runners or supporters) must only enter the Police College by the main entrance and follow the marshals’ directions. They should not follow any Sat Nav directions through Devilla Forest as these routes are unsuitable for cars and upset local residents.
TOILETS and CHANGING FACILITIES
Changing, showering and toilet facilities are available at the Recreation Hall.
The organisers accept no responsibility for the loss of clothing or equipment and it is the responsibility of runners to make sure they have all their belongings before leaving the race venue.
REFRESHMENTS
We will have water and post-race snacks at the finish for runners.
There is a Starbucks cafe, situated next to the registration area which will be open to all from 9.00am until 2.00pm.
CHARITY DONATIONS
We donate part of the proceeds of the race to a local charity (or charities) chosen by club members.
RACE PRIZES
We have an extensive range of prizes for both races. Prizes will be allocated strictly in age categories.
In addition, as this is the event’s 10th anniversary, all entrants will receive a wooden race memento.
Once again, we have been very fortunate to have secured sponsorship from Run4It, Edinburgh. All entrants to both the 15K and 5K will receive a Run4It discount voucher. Please check out their website: www.run4it.com
RESULTS
Both races are chip timed and the full race results will be available on the Carnegie Harriers website (www.carnegie-harriers.co.uk) shortly after the event finishes.
COVID-19
Runners are strongly advised not to attend if they are feeling unwell or displaying any of the documented symptoms of Covid-19.
