Club Bulletin 6th March 2023

Couch to Carnegie

Week 6 of Couch to Carnegie will be running in The Glen this week, meeting at the gate opposite Maitland Street (near the Royal Bengal restaurant). More information can be found on the club website, here, as well as on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Training this week

Tuesday March 7: 40-minute tempo run – pace judgement. 20 minutes out and 20 minutes back on the same route. The session will take place on the Milne Road/Ferrytoll road loop in Rosyth, meeting on Milne Road, at the bottom of the lane past the Rosyth Doocot, Milne Road meeting place. Plenty of street parking available. Milne Road meeting place The session will be led by Lesley.

Thursday March 9: Social runs meeting at Leys Road Car Park. There will be a variety of running paced groups so everyone will have company on the run.

Sessions begin with a dynamic warmup at 18:45 with the session starting at 18:50. Don’t forget to do a good warm up before the dynamic warmup, and do a cool down after the session.

The Return to Running group will also be meeting in Leys Park Car Park on Thursday. The group is ideal for members wanting to ease back into training or looking for a gentler session.

If training needs to be cancelled for any reason, we will post on Facebook. If conditions are dodgy, please check before traveling to training.

Remember, if you have any symptoms of any potentially transmissible illness (not just Covid), please do not attend training.

Sun 12 Mar 2023  Event 13 – Alloa Half Marathon Road

9:00am start. Entries are now open and you can enter here. This is the final event in this GP.

Don’t forget, your best seven events count towards the Grand Prix, one of which can be a road marathon so remember to submit your marathon time if you want it to count.

ARC – Additional Hill Races

Two additional hill races were added to the ARC to allow members the chance to be All Rounder Competition completers. Your final chance to gain ARC points is the Birnam hill race on Saturday 1st April – for further information and entries, click here. The ARC for 2022/23 will end on 1st April 2023.

Relay Races

The Scottish Road relays take place in Livingston on March 25th and have alternate 3 and 6 mile legs. For senior men and M40, it’s a 6 stage relay, for M50, senior women and W40, it’s a 4 stage relay and for W50, it’s a 3 stage relay.  The deadline for entries is Thursday 9th March.

Smokies 10 miles road race for women

This popular event, held on Sunday 5th March in Arbroath, has opened for entries, here.

Scottish Secondary Schools Association, Cross Country request for help

Saturday 4th March – Tokyo Marathon

Huge congratulations to Gail Murdoch on finishing the Tokyo Marathon in an unofficial time of 4:00:39 to complete the Abbot World Marathon Major Six – that’s the Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago and New York City marathons. Steven King also finished in 4:00:39.

Dunfermline parkrun

Next Saturday, 11th March, will be the 300th Dunfermline parkrun. They hope to celebrate this milestone by attracting 300 runners. If you are able to go along and take part, rumour has it there will be cake on offer!
